I must begin this ''update'' by expressing our gratitude for all those who have called, text, and e-mailed to check on us. We have had communications from literally all over the world. We had inquiries from seven different countries, and from all over the United States: friends who were genuinely concerned for our welfare. We have seen, in our great city, the best of humanity as one after another went out of their way to try to help in any way they can.
Several of our church-members suffered loss. Some had five inches of water in their homes. Some had six feet of water, destroying every piece of furniture and personal items. Some lost their vehicles due to the flooding. Praise God, there was no loss of life in our church family. Furniture is already set out at the curb for pick up. Carpet, wood and laminate flooring is out at the curb with all the furniture. Drywall is being removed, in order for the walls to dry out. Insurance claims have been filed, and work is ongoing. But, that is just it ... WORK IS ONGOING! Our folks are very resilient, very strong, and very faithful. Most everyone was at church on Sunday. As matter of fact, we had 84 in service on Wednesday evening.
As for our buildings: we have considerable roof leaks. I think we counted 38 separate leaks at our Underwood property alone. That is not even counting our Glenwood property that has not sold as yet. We have no idea yet how much it will cost to do the roof repairs. We have a crew going up on those roofs today to see what needs to be done. We have ceiling tiles that have been removed, and carpet that needs to be cleaned, where some of those tiles came down, due to being soaked. We are very grateful that we had no flooding at either of our properties. We have also filed ins. claims, and we will see what they choose to do. Our issue is the DEDUCTIBLES. At Underwood alone, those deductibles are between 75 and 79 thousand dollars. So, we know we will have to pay at least that much. Hey . . . God owns the cattle of a thousand hills, the hills, and the taters under those hills!!!!! He will provide. PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!!!
